Facilities
Practice
We are a small animal practice dealing with pets and have been caring for animals for more than 28 years. Our aim is to provide the best care for our clients and their pets in a friendly and efficient manner.

Mrs Hanson started working in the practice, which was originally a branch surgery, in 1982 with three young children in tow. She built it up over two years until she was due to have the fourth child and Mr Hanson joined the practice leaving the position of North West Deputy Regional Veterinary Officer for the PDSA. They have run the surgery ever since.

Reception Reception
A large open waiting room with notice boards contains local information and adverts.

You are welcome to pop in any time during opening hours for advice from our nurses, to collect a range of diets, healthcare products and prescription drugs and for a free weighing service.

Consulting Rooms
There are three newly refurbished consulting rooms offering our clients and their pets the privacy & professionalism they deserve.

Consultations are run by appointment only, except for urgent cases!

Kennels
We have hygienic stainless steel kennels for housing up to 12 in-patients on warm and hygeinic "vetbed" blankets in an area where close monitoring of patients post operatively can occur.

Operating Rooms
Two operating rooms allow for different types of operations i.e. sterile operations including routine spays, orthopaedics and abdominal operations and non-sterile operations such as dental procedures. The safest anaesthetic gas (isofluorane) is employed with up to date anaesthetic equipment and scavenging systems. Trained nurses monitor every patient and a pulse oximeter is used to check pulse rate and oxygen levels when necessary.

In House Laboratory
On site we have the latest automated biochemistry analyser providing rapid test results and hence treatment for liver, kidney, pancreatic and thyroid conditions. Also, we can perform pre-anaesthetic blood tests to check for hidden problems especially important in elderly or ill patients.
We have a haematology analyser with which we can detect anaemia, leukaemia and various infections.

We are able to screen for Feline Aids and Feline Leukaemia and utilise Allercept testing for skin allergies.

'Well pet' tests are becoming more popular in order to monitor subtle changes as animals age and are therefore used to implement early treatment with medicines and special diets.

Microscopy for parasite detection and post mortems can be performed on site or sent away to outside labs if additional expertise is necessary.

Radiology
Our large hospital x-ray machine provides high quality X-ray pictures.

Our dental X-ray machine takes specialised dental views.

Ultrasound Scanner
Using the same technology as modern hospitals, our ultrasound machine enables us to look at "cross sections" of soft tissues, which can help to confirm the status of pregnancy especially in dogs.

It also aids in the diagnosis of prostate disease, urinary stones of the bladder and kidney, abdominal tumours and in the evaluation of cardiac cases.

Dentistry
The dental equipment used at our practice would look quite at home in your dentist's surgery. With an ultrasonic dental de-scaler and air powered polisher with high and low speeds and dental drill we can perform all routine dental work.

ECG & Cryosurgery
Our practice is equipped with electrocardiogram apparatus allowing us to identify rhythm and heart rate disorders.

We are also able to treat furunculosis and small skin tumours with cryosurgical equipment
